Extra shifts at the Audi plant in Ingolstadt
Ingolstadt, 2013-01-22 - Audi has made a successful start to the new year. There is strong demand as well for the Ingolstadt-built models, such as the A4 and Q5. The company is therefore scheduling 16 extra shifts in the first quarter. An additional 4,900 or so B-series cars will be produced at the Ingolstadt plant. Around 100,000 A4, A5 and Q5 models are manufactured on average each quarter. Alongside Ingolstadt, the Q5 is also built in the Chinese City Changchun. From 2016, this model will also come off the assembly line at the new Mexican plant in San José Chiapa. In 2012 Audi sold around 640,000 B-segment middle-class cars worldwide. They made a significant contribution to the company’s record sales total of 1.455 million cars.
