Audi City in London and worldwide

The world?s first Audi City is opening right next door to London?s Piccadilly Circus. On an area of 690 m2 on two floors, it offers space for three display vehicles. Working behind the scenes to facilitate the multi-touch tables and powerwalls are 17 powerful computers and three servers.

On the ground floor are four 32-inch multi-touch tables. They communicate with four powerwall modules that are operated via gesture control. Each module is ? like the space ? 2.67 meters high and 4.60 meters wide and works with more than two million pixels. Altogether, the modules cover around 50 m2 across two walls. A large table with material samples completes the ground-floor furnishings. On the basement level are two Customer Private Lounges for personal consultation, each of them equipped with their own multi-touch table and a smaller powerwall. In addition, there is also a handover station for vehicle delivery.

Early 2013 sees the second Audi City open in Beijing, where the powerwall area measures more than 90 m2. Further locations will follow over the next few years, in locations such as Berlin, Shanghai, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Moscow and New York.

Audi City is also serving the brand with the four rings as a kind of test lab for service and technology innovations. Many of them, such as the powerwall, could soon be complementing classic dealership operations. The retail outlets will also play an important role in future mobility activities ? as a prominent sales outlet for new mobility concepts, electric vehicles or a combination of the two. Audi City will make it possible to experience new forms of mobility, where they are used ? in the city.
