The Audi site in Martorell
Audi has been producing the Audi Q3 at the SEAT site in Martorell, Spain, since spring 2011. The compact, sporty SUV is produced using state-of-the-art equipment. In 2012, the first full year of production, 106,829 automobiles were produced. Audi and SEAT have invested some €330 million in the facilities and infrastructure. With the brand new body shop and 30,000 square meter (322,917.31 sq ft) assembly hall, the Audi Q3 production facility in Martorell is among the most modern of its kind. The body shop features 450 of the latest-generation robots.
Martorell is the headquarters of the Volkswagen Group brand SEAT. The employees there work in three shifts and with maximum flexibility to produce the Audi Q3 to the high Audi quality standards. Production of the Audi Q3 created 1,500 jobs at SEAT in 2011, 700 of them new. In order to satisfy the high quality requirements, all employees underwent a 176-hour training program developed especially for the Audi Q3 prior to the start of production. Production in Martorell is a further element in Audi’s production network and integral part of the company’s growth strategy.
