The plant measures about one million square meters (10,763,910.42 square feet), with buildings on 90 percent of this area. It is situated between the Neckar River to the west, the railway line to the east, downtown Neckarsulm, the Kolbenschmidt Pierburg AG company’s site to the south and the commercial and industrial park Bad Friedrichshall to the north. The following models are built at the Neckarsulm plant: Audi A4 Sedan, Audi A5/S5 Cabriolet, Audi A6 Sedan and Avant, Audi S6, Audi A6 allroad quattro, Audi A6 hybrid, Audi A7/S7 Sportback, Audi A8/S8, A8 hybrid and A8L. The wholly-owned Audi subsidiary quattro GmbH adds the models Audi R8 and R8 Spyder, Audi R8 GT and R8 GT Spyder, the Audi RS5 Cabriolet, the Audi RS6 Avant and the Audi RS7 Sportback.
Technical development at the site comprises quattro GmbH, the Lightweight Design Center, engine development, racing engines and interiors. The press shop and the Toolmaking division serve key functions in the value chain and in the expansion of Audi’s technological leadership. The site’s Production Planning, Logistics Planning and Plant Planning departments are concerned with the future of the plant, focusing on such issues as increasing complexity and new technologies. Strategic investment in the Böllinger Höfe industrial park is an element of Audi's Growth Strategy 2020. The Audi Forum Neckarsulm is also a driving force in the region and far beyond. Since the Forum was opened in May 2005, 1.4 million people have visited the company showcase to pick up their new cars, take a tour of the plant or to attend one of the varied events and conferences held at the Forum. In 2012, 258,855 visitors came to the Audi Forum Neckarsulm for more than 740 events, 4,498 plant tours and to take delivery of 37,794 automobiles – more than ever before.
