A look into the future – new Audi models in 2013
Sporty SUVs are one of Audi’s key trademarks. The Audi SQ5 – featuring a 3.0 TDI or 3.0 TFSI engine depending on the market – and the Audi RSQ3 will expand the portfolio in this segment and appeal to customers interested in dynamic driving. 2013 will bring further exciting alternatives to the basic models: the Audi RS6 Avant and the Audi S3. The latter will be offered in three versions: as a three-door model, Sportback and sedan.
As a brand-new addition and the most important version in several major overseas markets, the Audi A3 sedan will arrive in dealerships in summer 2013. It showcases the Audi brand’s motto “Vorsprung durch Technik” with its many dynamic and high-tech Audi connect options.
That is also true for two other Audi A3 versions setting extensive new standards in sustainability. At the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, Audi will unveil the series-worthy Audi A3 e-tron concept – the brand’s first plug-in hybrid. Thanks to a cruising range as high as 50 kilometers (31.07 miles) in purely electric mode, a driver can go on many everyday trips with zero local emissions. Later in 2013, an especially environmentally friendly Audi A3 with an engine that can run on e-gas or natural gas will debut. It is part of a comprehensive mobility strategy that includes a plant to be commissioned in 2013 and operated by Audi that will produce synthetic methane referred to as “Audi e-gas”. This approach will make it possible to keep overall CO2 emissions for the corresponding Audi A3 fleet under 30 g/km (48.28 g/mile), close to figures for purely electric cars. This is the only mobility strategy of its kind in the world.
In fall 2013, another member of the Audi A3 family will be unveiled to trade-show visitors and the general public alike: the Audi A3 Cabriolet. The first automobiles will be delivered to customers just in time to kick off the 2014 convertible season.
