Audi Urban Future Initiative


Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, Speech to the Annual Press Conference 2011:
“(…) Up to now, new innovations have always been driven by changes in the general situation but also by social trends. And these innovations were successful in cases where they were useful to people and ensured a better quality of living. This will continue to be the case. We want to anticipate these future factors and define today what role we will play in tomorrow’s world. For this reason we created the Audi Urban Future Award in 2010. And in 2011 we want to go even further.

We are now incorporating the award into an initiative, the Audi Urban Future Initiative. Together with the Audi Urban Future Summit and all related activities that we are pursuing internally at Audi. You will hear plenty more on this subject in 2011. In 20 years, the majority of the world’s population will live in large cities. Market and ecology will form a unit in the long term, and the natural environment will become increasingly valued by mankind. We are therefore in the process of determining how we want to live in the future. And so we face a fundamental race to modernize. The task for us is to drive this forward in our industry (…).”
