Audi is sponsoring Munich’s temporary exhibition space for the Pinakothek der Moderne ("Art Gallery of the Modern"), the SCHAUSTELLE (show site). In return, the Pinakothek museums will be exhibiting art and design at Audi locations in Germany. This collaboration marks another highpoint of a partnership that began in 2010 with the world premiere of Audi A7 in the Pinakothek der Moderne.

The Bavarian State Painting Collections and Audi have a common objective: to promote creativity through mutual exchange and to make the interfaces between art and technology come alive. Since their first collaboration on the world premier of the Audi A7, the partners have held discussions and joint events to find ways to realize opportunities to present art and industry in a different light. Such as the shows American Summer and Women. “Creativity is at its best when people of different disciplines get together for a meeting of the minds. As a progressive company, it’s this kind of interdisciplinary dialogue that ensures Audi keeps its lead,” says Toni Melfi, Head of Communications at AUDI AG.

SCHAUSTELLE, the temporary exhibition space for the Pinakothek der Moderne, is one such platform of interdisciplinary exchange and now – for the first time – Audi is teaming up with all four of its museums. Until it reopens in the middle of September, the Pinakotek’s Die Neue Sammlung – The International Design Museum Munich – and Collection of Modern Art from the Bavarian State Painting Collections will be on display in Neckersulm and Ingolstadt. “It’s the first time we’ve ever hosted museums of such international renown as Munich’s Die Neue Sammlung and Collection of Modern Art in the Audi Forums’ exhibition space. It is an extraordinary opportunity for visitors and staff to experience art within the automotive context,” says Melfi.

On 25 April, Board Member for Production Dr. Frank Dreves and Director of Die Neue Sammlung Dr. Florian Hufnagl will officially open the design exhibition at the Audi Forum in Neckarsulm. Through the middle of June, Die Neue Sammlung will exhibit highlights of the history of design. “Iconic designs are objects whose functionality is no longer the emphasis. That should make the exhibits in Neckarsulm more tangible and understandable,” says Hufnagl. The symbiosis between automotive design and art is not a new concept to the Audi Forum Neckarsulm, where British designer Tom Dixon’s installation “Light Light” presented at Design Miami 2009 on the occasion of the world premier of the Audi A8 has been on permanent display since 2011.

When the Audi Summer Concerts premier on 26 June 2013, Dr. Klaus Schrenk, Director General of the Bavarian State Painting Collections, will open the exhibition “Jürgen Partenheimer” together with the exhibition’s internationally renowned namesake at the Museum Mobile in Ingolstadt. “Partenheimer is an artist who is always on the lookout for unusual solutions. That’s why I asked him to come up with a concept for the exhibition in the Museum Mobile;” explains Schrenk. Born in 1947 in Munich, Partenheimer is known for his extremely complex body of work that ranges from drawings, to paintings to sculptures. Partenheimer was launched on the international stage through his participation in the Biennale in Paris, São Paulo and Venice. Important highlights of his international career include one-man shows the in National Gallery in Berlin, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. His exhibition “Jürgen Partenheimer”, which will take place during the Audi Summer Concerts and continue through the middle of September, offers an additional opportunity to experience the cultural diversity of the Ingolstadt site.
