Höweler + Yoon Architecture, LLP is an interdisciplinary design and research practice working across scales: from architecture to urban design to public space interventions. Their work focuses on the instrumentality of the built environment to encourage innovation, create community, harness resources and build awareness. Their award winning projects include: the Boswash:Shareway 2030, winner of the Audi Urban Future Award; Chengdu Skycourts Exhibition Hall, recipient of the Annual Design Review Awards 2012; and White Noise White Light, internationally awarded for the Athens 2004 Olympics. Their recent speculative projects, Ecopods and Windscreen, have tested concepts for urban renewable energy production and consumption. Their work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, the Institut Valencia d’Art Modern, and the National Art Center in Tokyo, Japan. Recent books include: Expanded Practice: Projects by Höweler + Yoon Architecture/ MY Studio (Princeton Architectural Press 2009), and Public Works: Unsolicited Small Projects for the Big Dig (Map Office 2008).
J. Meejin Yoon, RA, FAAR is the founder of MY Studio and co-founder of Howeler + Yoon Architecture. She is an Associate Professor with Tenure and the Director of the Undergraduate Program in the Department of Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is the recipient of the United States Artist Award in Architecture/Design, the Athena RISD/Target Emerging Designer Award, the Rome Prize in Design, and a Fulbright Scholarship. She is the author of Public Works: Unsolicited Small Projects for the Big Dig (MAP Book Publishers 2009), Expanded Practice, Höweler + Yoon Architecture / MY Studio (Princeton Architectural Press 2009) and Absence (Printed Matter and the Whitney Museum of American Art 2003). She received a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University and a Masters of Architecture in Urban Design with Distinction from Harvard University.
Eric Höweler is a registered architect, architectural writer, and co-founder of Höweler + Yoon Architecture. He is a Assistant Professor in Architecture at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Eric Höweler is a registered architect in New York, the District of Columbia, New Jersey, Washington DC and Virginia, and he is a LEED Acredited Professional. He is the author of Skyscraper: Vertical Now, published by Rizzoli/Universe Publishers in 2003. He received a Bachelor of Architecture (1994) and a Masters of Architecture (1996) from Cornell University.
