FC Bayern München wins the Audi Cup for the second time since 2009. 68,000 spectators in the packed Allianz Arena enjoyed an extraordinary football evening with four world-class teams. In the final between FC Bayern München and Manchester City FC, the local matadors won 2:1 and in doing so won the first international title of the new season.

FC Bayern München continued from where it left off and the end of last season: collecting titles. Under new trainer Pep Guardiola, the Munich based club took the first international trophy of the new season after winning the third Audi Cup tournament. For the Bavarians, it was the second victory after the Audi Cup’s premiere in 2009. In a high-class final, the Munich club won 2:1 against Manchester City FC. The goal scorers: Álvaro Negredo (0:1, 61 m), Thomas Müller (1:1, 66 m, penalty), Mario Mandžukić (2:1, 73 m). AC Milan beat São Paulo FC earlier in the third place playoff. The Italians – their third appearance in the Audi Cup – were third this time. The goal scorer for the Milanese: Kingsley Boateng in the 53rd minute.

“We enjoyed two thrilling evenings of football here in Munich. I’d like to thank all four teams,” explained Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Marketing and Sales at AUDI AG, who also presented the winner’s trophy to ‘birthday boy’ Bastian Schweinsteiger. “That was first class football in front of a fantastic crowd. With a worthy winner, congratulations to FC Bayern München.” The third Audi Cup tournament was broadcast in over 200 countries worldwide.

There were two other winners on the final day of the Audi Cup 2013: Marco Amelia
(AC Milan) and Thomas Müller (FC Bayern München) were voted as most valuable players in the two matches by a specialist jury of sports journalists and other football experts. The day before it was Edin Džeko (Manchester City FC) and Arjen Robben (FC Bayern München).
