The Audi quattro Cup in Germany has been decided. At the Scharmützelsee lake near Berlin, 254 participants played to determine four winners. They will represent Germany at the world finale in Los Angeles (USA) in October. 12,700 German amateur golfers in total had participated in 127 qualification tournaments at Audi’s invitation.

From Berlin to California: Axel and Andre Parschau (Club: Winston Links, Audi Zentrum Schwerin) as well as Ronald Zschornack and Stefan A. Uhlich (Club: Lausitzer Golfclub, Autohaus Schulze) decided the Audi quattro Cup in Germany in their favor. At the world finale from October 7 to 11, 2013, they will be playing for overall victory against international competitors at the Trump National Golf Club near Los Angeles on the coast of the Pacific Ocean.

254 amateur golfers from all over Germany experienced thrilling final days on the outskirts of Berlin. In 127 qualification tournaments they had previously prevailed against 12,700 players. “On behalf of Audi I congratulate the winners and wish them a lot of success at the world finale in California,” said Clemens Lee, Head of Trade Fairs, Events and Sport Marketing of AUDI AG. “The large number of participants shows that the Audi quattro Cup continues to thrill and fascinate in its 23rd year. The days in Berlin were a perfect example of a superb and fair sporting event under the symbol of the four rings.”

During the finale the participants had the opportunity to meet Audi factory driver Tom Kristensen. The nine-time winner of the Le Mans 24 Hours is an avid golfer himself. He participated in the second finale as a non-competing player and gave the interested golfers some insights into the fascinating world of motorsport. During the evening gala which concluded the German finale the Dane presented the prizes.

Around the green, Audi showcased two top-end models from its product range, the Audi RS 7 and the R8 Spyder. As an incentive for a ‘hole-in-one’ on Hole 13, the brand with the four rings had made an Audi RS 5 Cabrio available – but the perfect strike putting the ball into the hole across a 183-meter distance was not achieved by any of the participants this year either.

Since its inaugural year of 1991 far more than a million players worldwide have participated in the Audi quattro Cup. At the invitation of regional Audi partners, qualification tournaments are held as ‘foursomes with selected drive’ for six months. The winners thus qualify for the German finale. The 24th season of the Audi quattro Cup will start in April 2014.
